The Pinta ng Bukas Sustainability Art Contest, a collaborative endeavor to promote sustainability among Filipinos, was hosted by Amaia Land and Davies Paints. The competition gathered competitors from kids, teens, and adults.
The art contest was held in Amaia projects located in three distinct places across Luzon, namely Amaia Scapes Bauan, Amaia Steps Pasig, and Amaia Scapes Trece Martires. A total of 128 participants created art - exhibiting their skills and ideas about sustainability.
Through this project, Amaia and Davies Paints hope to encourage sustainable living habits. They believe that promoting sustainable practices can contribute to a better future for the environment and the community as two companies with a common commitment to sustainability.
The contest was held on April 22, 2023, to commemorate Earth Day. The event continued from April 23 to 29 and 30, 2023. The contest's theme, "Caring for Our Planet Earth," encouraged contestants to think imaginatively about how they can incorporate sustainable methods to care for the planet.
Davies Paints Philippines, Inc. is a company whose commitment to sustainability is shown through its numerous pioneering products such as Biofresh+, the first local odorless and anti-bacterial paint; Clean Air, the first anti-formaldehyde paint; and Aqua Gloss-It, the first water-based quick-drying enamel paint – all first in their respective categories in the country.
Davies Paints Philippines is also a member of the US Green Building Council and the Philippine Green Building Council, making this a testament to Davies Paints’ commitment not only to quality and safety, but also to the preservation and protection of the environment.
Furthermore, Amaia and Davies Paints have collaborated to promote sustainability with the Local Government Unit, educational institutions, and Amaia households. They have worked with local governments to promote sustainable practices in their communities, as well as educational institutions to develop sustainability awareness among students. They also collaborated closely with Amaia residents to promote sustainable living practices and to build a more sustainable community.
Amaia will also sponsor art lessons to nourish the skills and talents of the contest winners as part of winners’ prizes, besides Gcash credits prize.
The winning artworks will be painted and converted into a mural with help from artists of Davies Paints’ on Amaia project walls to inspire art and sustainability as well as to promote and beautify Amaia projects.
Overall, Amaia was able to achieve its goals – create an activity for the community to come together, open Amaia’s gates to non-residents to showcase Amaia projects (homes, amenities), provide a platform for aspiring artists to showcase their talents and skills, and ultimately spread awareness on sustainability and protecting the planet.
